Glenrowan – Clack Clack Caravan Park

The meeting place was the historic Vintage Hall Café at Glenrowan where we all enjoyed lunch and catching up. Brian raised the standard of the group by wearing an immaculate official Pajero top (others were much more casually attired). We set off in convoy on a very picturesque drive with great views of the Hume Weir along the way. We stopped at Tallangatta for a quick break and then onto Clack Clack Caravan Park. In anticipation of many arrivals the staff had set up a `book in table` outside where we registered and were duly shown to our sites. We all enjoyed a well-earned drink and nibbles at fivesies.

Later that evening a storm broke and we had quite a lot of rain that cooled the temperature down considerably. This was very pleasant for those who were comfortably settled in their caravans. Not so for the campers, namely Matthew and our trip leader Rob. They had to take cover in the camp kitchen until the rain temporarily stopped. Matthew then headed for his tent but Rob had overlooked this simple duty of tent placement and erection and had to wait in his vehicle until the rain again stopped. Unfortunately, Rob also had to deal with the added stress of a self-inflating

mattress, which he had placed in his vehicle and this competed with him for space … very sad.

We woke to a lovely sunny day and we all met up with Rob for a briefing before setting off on our big day out. Our destination was Mount Pinnabar. The drive was excellent with spectacular scenery and many colorful flowers in bloom to admire. We stopped for a morning tea break and to have a discussion as to which track was the right one to Mount Pinnabar. To help with the thinking process we all enjoyed delicious crunchy ANZAC biscuits handed around by Grant (made by Cathy) and also yummy fruitcake made by Vicki.

We set off again and drove to the Helipad, now christened `Bull Ant` Helipad in honour of Grant who showed off his perfect rhythm in dancing the `Bull Ant Jig` as a consequence of him unwisely disturbing them. We then aired down and after a steep and shaly climb, we arrived at Mt Pinnabar and again admired the fabulous views
