some underside damage if the wrong line was taken, but that was unlikely with someone guiding the driver. Parks must have decided that the crossing was too risky for normal traffic and closed it. Disappointing for those who liked to travel this track and an example of more track closures by Parks.

Next stop was Strath Falls where we knew there would be no falls running but the scenic lookout was worth the effort. At the falls parking area we walked down the path to the lookout area which was worth the effort this time. The gorge is spectacular even though there were no falls running. After returning to the cars it was decided that this was a good spot for lunch, so we sat at the picnic tables at the parking area and enjoyed our food.

After lunch, we continued on track and on time following my plotted track. We stopped briefly at number 1 Camp and had a look around at the campsites there. We continued on, following tracks with great names, like Film track, The Tonsil, Poison Post Rd, Harry’s Nose and Cockpit Rd. We eventually found our way to Blair’s Hut Picnic area and then tried to find our way to Mt. Disappointment. There is no vehicle track to Mt. Disappointment, so we didn’t go there, which was a bit of a disappointment. But there is a waling track, that’s a walk I’ll have to explore at a later date.

Our day trip exploration was nearly to end. We had travelled essentially anti-clockwise around the area, popping in and out of side tracks to maximize what 4 wheel driving there was to be had, without going to extremes. I know there are some steep, loose rocky sections out there but we stayed away from those, perhaps another time when we can tackle them earlier in the day. Just before we came out of the area onto the Whittlesea/Wallan Rd we aired up then headed off toward home. Thanks to the guys for accompanying me on this trip, I wouldn’t have tackled it without them for not knowing the area at all. It made for comfortable trip and great company. As for the flooded floor, I haven’t heard back from “the floodee” but I’m confident that no lasting damage was done, otherwise I’m sure I would have heard back. It won’t happen on any future trips.
