Neil Phillips - Canning Stock Route
Trip done April to June this year. What works and does not work. 5 vehicles with 7 participants who were
named. It's a long trip over 3,000 klms. Graham Halliburton a good source of information on the trip. The
changes in topography, weather etc over the trip was amazing. Arthur Canning was give the job of creating
a stock route north to south in the early 1900's. In 1960's the track became a 4wd event for a lot of people.
Annie Bardsley detailed that a royal commission was held soon after the stock route was completed. They
were critical of Arthur Canning. The aborigines were disadvantaged and starved
