Day 3.
Up early as the fi re in the sleeping lodge had gone out during the night some time. Packed up some of the gear
and then had breakfast and collected all our food and put it back in the vehicles, Dean appeared with a lot of
cleaning gear so as a group we all helped to clean, sweep, vacuum, split wood and stack it beside the two fi res,
many hands made quick work of the tasks. We all headed off down the mountain to Licola.
At the Licola store a few members said is there any track on the way home as it was still early, I mentioned
Burgoynes Gap Track around to Cheney’s Bridge loop was on the way home, in a fl ash we had 7 vehicles that
wanted to have a go. So aft er a top up of fuel (To support the Store) we said good bye to the member going
home and we headed off . Arriving at the start of the track, we checked our tire pressures, selected low range
and headed off .
At the second steep hill it was decided that one of the Pajero’s would leave us and head back and home (In
hindsight a good decision). We continued on to the river where we had lunch on the sandy area, 3 other
vehicles arrive while we were having lunch as it looked like they were staying for a while we headed off
through the river crossing and up the mountain, defi antly a low range hill requiring all the extra that you
had engaged, Pauls Pajero popped a tire and was having problems with low range. Aft er changing the wheel
and getting a 4x4 in front of the vehicle then it was towed up the hill to the fl at area. It was found that he had
no low range drive, but could drive in 2WD so it was decided that the easiest way out was forward so with a
capable vehicle in front of the Pajero ready to give a tow we headed off arriving at Cheney’s Bridge with out
to much drama. Well done by Pauls and the other club members.
We aired up and had a drink then headed home aft er a very eventful and enjoyable weekend.
I would like to thank everyone that attended the weekend for helping out as required and making it a great
weekend away.
