Accepted by: Seconded by: Presentation 1: Bryan McMeikan - Safari 4x4 Engineering Introduced himself and Safari and spoke on the design, manufacture of snorkels. Played a video of the 3D printing, fitment, dyno tuning. Started in 1980. Most eastern suburbs 4x4 shops sells their products. A snorkel is a watertight raised air intake. All would be aware of the benefits of a snorkel. Cooler air EGT using a snorkel. Vehicle scanning is done in house and can involve travelling overseas. 3D printing saves some 6 weeks in the design process. Copyright now in force. Overseas products are significantly inferior. Flow test bench utilised. Road speed air testing done. Snorkels are rotationally mounded. Made from LLDPE from the raw materials from Sydney. Air Ram are specifically designed to remove water and this was detailed. Model range changed a few years ago to R-Spec and designed for older vehicles. V-Spec Range for later models. 30 to 50 thousand snorkels produced annually. Around 6-8 warranty. ARMAX are manufactures for maximum air flow and for performance modifications. Also do EM chips.
