Tyre Pressure Monitoring System
Tyre pressure monitors are a good devices to use in off road driving. The atmospheric air
temperature increases as the day progresses. The tyres also heat up when in use. If a tyre is deflated
to a specific pressure in the morning, this pressure may increase later in the day. Hence, tyre
pressure monitors are ideal to monitor and adjust the pressures suitable for the terrain.
There are various types of monitors available in the market. Pressure monitors with internal sensors
are more difficult to install but are more accurate in reacting to changes in pressure. Pressure
monitors that have wheel cap sensors are easy to install but not as accurate.
Summary
In summary, lowering tyre pressures causes the tyres to generate more heat, so speed and steering
responses must be adjusted accordingly.
Also remember to reinflate the tyres back to the correct pressures stated by the vehicle
manufacturer after the off road driving.
