Financially, the Club is in a healthy position thanks to sound management over many years.
The budget has tightened a little to ensure our recurrent expenditure does not get ahead of our
income and so that we stay within the legal purpose of the Club. We do have the funds
available to invest in areas that will transform and position the Club going forward.
After a year as President I am beginning to understand why the Club works so well and is an
organisation that so many of us are proud to belong to. To a large extent the answer lies in the
many volunteers who serve on the Committee and various sub-committees, make our meeting
function properly, lead events and trips and represent us at shows, work bees, track clearing,
volunteer work and meetings. Instead of listing a selection of names here, I say thank you to
all volunteers on behalf of the membership. The full list of contributors is to be found on the
annual Person Of The Year honour roll.
There are projects underway that still need completion. One is to follow-up the suggestions of
more-legible name badges with larger lettering and better colouring. Another is to resolve
guest membership on Club trips if guest driving is involved. Yet another is easing the
transition from membership as a dependant to full Club membership. These and more are on
our radar for improvement.
A major goal for the coming year should be the positioning of the Club for the future. This
will lead us into a key question “Is there a better way: how can we improve?”.
