Day 1.
A quick look through recent Club records suggests that
we have only had a few trips to the Strathbogie plateau
with these activities having been more centred on the
eastern Tallangallook gold mining centre and State
forest. This weekend was in the form of a tour across
much of the 100 km long Strathbogie plateau and
included thick forest in the east, extensive and varied
farmland where the flatter ground had been cleared
and some steep scarps off the south side of the plateau.
We had an afternoon drive up to Strathbogie town with
the individual departures and routes being dictated by
people’s starting points and any work commitments.
Accommodation for the two nights was in the cabins at
the old North Strathbogie State School site a few km
north of the town of Strathbogie. The accommodation
was warm and comfortable with separate bunk rooms
and a large kitchen and relaxing area around a fully
stocked wood fire.
