MUSTER 2018 TRIP REPORT
FRIDAY 30TH March 2018
BLUERAG TRIG POINT
We started off on time which is always a plus. After airing down at McMillans Road, and Colin Hopwood as our tail end Charlie we set off. With only five cars in the convoy it was easy for all to stay together.
As we dropped down into Talboltville and looked around there wasn’t too many people camping there as yet, but we did meet a lot coming in on the tracks. We crossed the river to get to Brewery Creek Track and l found out later that that was Colin’s first river crossing. Well done Colin.
Then onto Basalt Knob Track where we stopped at the old refrigerated Railway Carrage for morning tea still looks the same as it was four years ago when we last saw it but more graffiti on it which is sad to see and more stickers. After leaving there we were on track to get to Blue Rag for lunch. 1721M
After stopping for the must have pictures and some really fun tracks we got to Blue Rag on time for lunch, Russell was able to get some great drone shots as it was not very windy and the views were some of the best I’ve seen from here, no clouds or haze.
From here we still had a few challenges in front of us with the first being to go down Blue Rag track, after waiting for a while to give way to about four cars that were coming up this track.
It was challenging for all of us and more so for those who were coming from the other direction and didn’t know what they were doing, one even asked what pressure his tyres should be at....
As we continued on High Plains Road were we tried to find Lankey Plain Hut which we ended up not finding.
Had a good trip back with all enjoying the scenery and the tracks, the views are just the best and the tracks are always a challenge but fun. Back in time for fivsies and l think all enjoyed their time on the tracks with us.
