Vice President Report Jan 2018

G’day members, it’s been a while. There was a report written for the last magazine, but it never made the magazine. So my apologies for that…..

As many of you are aware there was the annual strategy meeting held during January, where the

Committee came together to talk about many of the ideas and thoughts, issues and so on that we are aware of and wish to address. During the meeting several ideas were floated that I will put into the magazine here for your information, but also ask for your support, assistance and input.

Neat Ideas

In the past you may remember that I added a couple of “Neat Ideas” for members to consider in each magazine. (You may remember the sock over the hoover pipe to get something small that was dropped under the sofa). When I stepped down this feature in the magazine did not continue. However, it is coming back and you will find a section with a couple of neat ideas for you to have a look at. If you have some ‘tricks’ of your own, then please forward them to me at

[email protected] .

Camp Cooking

The second resurrection to include: Camp Cooking. I know that we did put one recipe forward, but it never seemed to follow through. The vast majority of us have been out there and cooked whilst we have been camping. This could be a full-on Cordon Bleu recipe, or it could be just a simple recipe that was passed through the family on the back of a cornflake packet.

So “Calling all cooks, bbq’ers and chefs” – please have a think about your ‘go to’ camp meal. Jot it down and send it through. This is an area where we / I need members input and without it there is no recipe to put in the magazine.

“I didn’t know that…”

My last inclusion in this VP Report is a section that I shall call “I didn’t know that…”

This section is one for informing the members about processes, protocols and procedures that we have as part of the Club. We have a whole stack of by-laws that have been implemented through the Club, but be honest how many members have actually read them? So in order to keep the members informed about certain matters of the club the idea is to have a small section in the monthly meeting as well as the magazine. This may be presented by a member of the committee, or a member of the Club, but the intent is to inform members and clarify matters of concern.

For example the issue of temporary members was discussed at the Strategy Meeting. There is some work required to clarify what is in place and what is expected, it links in to insurance and thus is not a simple matter. So as soon as we have the specifics nailed down we will then come to the members and let you know where we stand, what our options are or ask for your input, depending on what we find out.

The next question is to ask what areas do you need to know about? For example; insurance,

membership, team app, moderation of trips, trip leading, what awards stand for (Clubman award for example), life membership …… if you have any areas that you would like clarified or have concerns about then please get in touch “at the usual address” – [email protected] .

Till next time…..

Ian – Vice President Pajero Club
