I have lots of mates 3000 of them, and we will be planted to help reduce the salinity problem in the Goulburn/Murray River system. There are members of Manningham Rotary, Scouts, local Land care members, high school kids and of course willing helpers of the Pajero Club. The ground has been prepared by the farmer by ripping the hillsides with his bulldozer. All these people will take me and my mates, dig a hole, place me in the hole, and place a tree guard around me. This will give me some protection from the cold winds that race up the valley, and from the icy frosts. Soon many of my mates have been planted and it is time for everyone to take a morning tea break. The ground where I have been planted is quite damp, but a little drink of rain later in the day will help me grow. I look from my view on the hillside. Lots of tree guards all white everywhere you can see, and the helpers slowly head down the valley to have lunch at the Glenaroua Fire Station. All of the newly planted seedlings will now have to face whatever weather comes our way. Some will grow strong, the week ones will not survive. But we seedlings all know, that a good job was done by all who helped. We will do our best to restart the natural environmental cycle on this property from today. Written By Peter & Nancy Miller Thank you to all who attended, It was a great day and without our club members, this day would not have been so Successful.
