Almost Beginners Daylesford to Castlemaine Sunday 16th July 2017
Thanks to everyone for being on time or early . Unfortunately two participants had to pull out at the last minute . Chris and I enjoyed ourselves on this trip and everyone else seemed to enjoy it as well as there was a lot of excited chatter at the lunch stop and the end . We will try to do more “ beginners ” trips in the future as there is a bit of a shortage of this type trip for new members at the moment .
One of the creek crossings that James mentions is in fact the Loddon River at Vaughan . The bridge is no longer in use as it is in a very bad condition and looks quite unsafe so you have to drive down the side of the bridge and cross at a ford . As there hadn ’ t been much rain lately in the area the water was only about 300mm deep but I imagine there would be times when it could get much deeper .
