MEMBER TRIP REPORT

On Thursday July 1 st , we headed off nice and early with Hawker SA as our destination . Again , the quiz master Janine kept us all entertained with more trivia to help while-away the kilometres and keep us alert . Q3 : “ The platypus and echidna are the only marsupials in the world that can …”. Q4 : “ Which children ' s TV series is narrated by Ringo Star ?”
As we arrived at the SA border , we were greeted by quarantine officials looking for fruit . Thankfully , they let Ed through . Immediately after , we were tested for Covid 19 and then proceeded into SA on our way to Hawker . Peter Van Riel won the second nights Trivia so we spun the wheel again to see what marvellous prize he could win . As per the previous day , there were several impressive prizes to be had including a first-class flight to LA . As per the previous day , Peter won a bag of party mix lollies .
On arrival at the Hawker Caravan Park , we showered , had a few drinks and shared the spoils of the days quiz courtesy of Peter Van Riel . As the day was long and no body felt like cooking , we headed off to the local pub for a beer and Parma .
Come Friday 2 nd , we all got up early and headed towards the Mungeranie roadhouse for our third night on the road . Again , Janine our quiz master , kept us entertained and alert . Q5 : “ Who were the enemies in the man from UNCLE ?” Q6 : “ The extras from what Oscar winning movie died within a year of making it ?”
We stopped in Copley for a Pie . Then off to Farina for some “ stuff ”. And then on to Marree for fuel and snacks . We aired down for the Birdsville track just ahead . Not only did Peter Van Riel win the trivia again ( another bag of party mix lollies – he really had no luck with the prize wheel ), but Peter was also the first to lose a windscreen from oncoming cars throwing stones .
