Peter recommended running some short trips before you attempt a longer trip . It lets you get used to how to be a trip leader , and there are always experienced members who are happy to help you out by being your Tail End Charlie . He also recommended doing a reconnaissance trip with an experienced member beforehand to increase your chances of running a great trip .
Our panel not only had a wealth of their own knowledge , they also have a great list of contacts . For most trips that were discussed , someone had a recommendation of a club member who knows that area well . If you aren ’ t sure about the area you are travelling to , ask someone who has already been and you can base your trip on theirs .
The future of club trips is really looking promising . We encourage anyone who is interested in planning their own trip , day trip or extended , to do the training and start speaking to experienced members .
