COVID-19 & Our Club
Welcome to my November update and , at long last , we can now run our Monthly Members Meetings with no limits on numbers attending . As a repeat from my October update , the Club will continue to comply with government health regulations and this means only people that are fully vaccinated ( double dosed ) will be able to participate in Club activities . Every person participating in a Club activity will also need to check-in using the QR Code provided for each Club Event . We ’ ll also keep a close eye on impacts of the Omicron variant and hope that doesn ’ t mean some restrictions may be implemented again .
Club Trips – Now Using QR Codes
These next couple of paragraphs are repeats from my October report , however it must be noted these requirements will remain for the foreseeable future .
The Club is now using QR Codes for all Club activities . This means a QR Code is created for each trip , sent to the Trip Leader , and all trip participants must check-in using that QR code . The Club is also resuming guests and Temporary Members attendance to meetings and trips . The same registration and proof of vaccination requirements apply to guests and Temporary Members .
As President , I must be available 24x7 to be contacted by DHHS , if any of our activities are linked to a COVID-19 outbreak . If we all comply with government rules , and provide proof of full vaccination , the chance of DHHS contacting the Club is small . I ’ m taking this very seriously . There is no reason to not register . If you don ’ t have a smart phone , as a backup , the trip attendance form has been updated to include sighting of your fully vaccinated status , before you will be allowed to continue on a trip . You only need to register at the start of the day for each trip . If it ’ s a multi-day trip , you need to register at the start of each day of the trip .
In addition to showing vaccination status , masks are still required in some indoor settings or where it is not possible to socially distance .
Proof of Vaccination
You can provide proof of vaccination in one of five ways ( from the Victorian Coronaviruses website ):
• COVID-19 digital certificate via the Service Victoria app .
• COVID-19 digital certificate saved to a smartphone wallet .
• Printed copy of COVID-19 digital certificate together with a valid photo ID .
• Printed copy of immunisation history statement together with a valid photo ID .
• Medical exemption together with a valid photo ID .
The simplest option ( for you and the trip leader ) on a trip will be to scan the QR code with the Service Victoria App and show your digital certificate . The following link provides more information on each option .
Russell Chatfield and his team of Driver Trainers have been busy running courses to catch-up with the training back-log , particularly Proficiency Training for new Members .
