MEMBER TRIP REPORT

Day

2 – Tuesday 9 th November Once the first of the 3 most important meals of the day was taken care of , we had a brief rundown of the agenda planned for the day and to check out the quality of the tracks and travel timings . I ’ d received information from Daniel Ho who ’ d been in Little Desert the previous week that the seasonally closed tracks were still shut , so was prepared with alternate plans should that still be the case .
We all aired down to 18 to 20 psi before departing right on 8:30 am . From Campground Track , we headed down Salt Lake Track , making a quick stop at Albrechts Mill , on to Pump Jack Track , and then Northern Break , all of which were easy going with sand over a firm base . We then headed into Dimboola , which would have been our morning tea stop , however as we had made speedy progress over the easy tracks , and with a small group , we decided that we ’ d just have a toilet break and continue on .
From Dimboola , we made our way to Horseshoe Bend Rd , Pomponderoo Rd , and River Track , which were all hard packed gravel . Once we got to Charcoal Flat Track ( seasonally closed but was now open ) we hit much softer sand which made travelling more a challenge and a lot more interesting . Charcoal Flat Track , McCabes Hut Track , Mallee Track , and Dahlburgs Mill Track all had good long stretches of sand which ranged from easy to quite soft and deep in some sections that had been rather cut up . Once we arrived at the intersection with Salt Lake Track , the plan was to take right onto
