Pajero Club : President ’ s Report October 2021 COVID-19 & our Club
Welcome to my October update and refreshingly , growing positivity as vaccination targets approach milestones that allow a return to normal life . This update focuses on the Victorian Roadmap and how I expect the Club will be required to manage Trips and Events , only for vaccinated people .
Most of the information for Victoria ’ s Roadmap can be found at this link . There is too much detail there to include in this report , so I ’ ll focus on key changes expected in the next 2-4 weeks .
There are two key community vaccination targets driving the easing of lock down restrictions . Those two targets are at 70 % fully vaccinated and 80 % fully vaccinated ( aged 16 years and older ).
At 70 % vaccinated – aged 16 and over , forecast for October 26th
• The travel from home radius increases to 25 km ( only for metropolitan Melbourne )
This travel restriction applies to locked-down areas such as metropolitan Melbourne . If you live within the edges of metropolitan Melbourne , you still cannot travel into regional Victoria . This change is not practical for metropolitan Melbourne members to run trips .
At 80 % vaccinated – aged 16 and over , forecast for November 5th
• Metropolitan Melbourne and Regional Victoria come together under the same COVID-19 rules
• Up to 150 fully vaccinated people can dine indoors , and up to 30 can gather in public outside
At this point we can restart trips across the entirety of Victoria and are likely to resume in-person monthly meetings at the Glen Waverly Bowls Club .
Proof of Vaccination
Current media commentary is advising Victorians can prove vaccination status using the Service Victoria phone app . On this , I ’ ve sourced this extract from the link previously supplied in this update :
The Service Victoria app will be integrated with a Medicare Certificate that shows proof of vaccination and other proof of vaccination options may also trialled to determine what works best for both businesses and patrons .
For people that don ’ t use smart phones , the Committee will monitor the options mentioned in the quote above then determine how that will support trips .
Phew ! Back to normal
In my previous update and during the September monthly meeting , I mentioned POTY is being reviewed to fix a technical anomaly that excludes partners from awards . That anomaly was not in the spirit of the family orientated culture of our Club and had been ignored in previous years by recognising partners anyway . The Committee has received the results of that review and will be publishing it shortly . My thanks to Daniel Bradd ( vice-President ) and sub-committee chair , Ralph Longley , Laurie Finlay , Neil Phillips , Peter Cooney and Doug Hammerton for their participation and imparting their experience on that sub-committee to enable this change .
