Trip Detail
The plan was to head to some of the high country ’ s spectacular high points . This meant a long day was planned .
Our convoy of 6 vehicles headed off at 8.30am along the Mansfield-Whitfield road to Powers Lookout , about 20 minutes from Tolmie . This offers a spectacular view over the upper King Valley and beyond . Everyone jumped out and enjoyed the view and after a quick toilet stop , we continued on our way .
A long haul on the blacktop to Cheshunt and then along a good quality gravel road got us to Bennies campsite after about another hour . A brief stop was had to air down and make use of the facilities . We didn ’ t realise we bypassed another member on an independent trip – Toby & Megan Corbett were camped here , but we would see them later at Lake Cobbler .
