MEMBER TRIP REPORT

From there we took the difficult section of Cornhill road on the right towards Matlock Fire Tower . We had morning team there as it took us little over an hour to get to that point .
From there we headed down onto Cornhill Road . We had our first steep rocky challenge on a section of Corn hill road just after Frenchman ’ s Gap track . Everything from there on was in good nick until we reached the initial section of Ryan Spur track , which had dense overgrowth and a lot of fallen trees . In some sections , there was just enough gap between the cut trees . It was a fun obstacle course , navigating to avoid any panel damages . From there ’ s it was mostly high range driving to Ryan Spur hut . We had a short break there before continuing to Mount Terrible Hut .
From Ryan spur hut , it was easy going till we reached the fork with Moonlight spur track and Mount terrible track . As we headed up , Mount terrible track offers plenty of sidetracks all going the same way but offering a bit of choose your own adventure . Some sections of the track are steep and rocky . We reached Mount Terrible hut and just an hour after noon and decided to have lunch . We had the place exclusively to us without any other group .

Following lunch , we headed back down via Mount Terrible track and then cut across on to Moonlight spur track . The track is steep in sections but had been graded recently . The river crossing at the end was also shallow given that it ’ s dry now . From there we headed towards Frenchman ’ s Gap track via Knockwood .
