Some of the Pajero Club activities have a strong social component, and indeed this social interaction is a
large part of why members join the Pajero Club. Yet we had to cancel the March General meeting and Pajero
Muster because of the social component in each; reflect for a moment on that comment—in normal years
we would be strongly encouraging people to mix at these events but in the 2020 crisis any shaking of hands,
kissing, hugging, or even being in close proximity are not recommended.
We are planning the next Exceed magazine right now and will post it to Members. We will send out a
TeamApp message a few days ahead of each scheduled monthly meeting, but such messages are likely to
be advising of the meeting cancellation at least for April. As of late March, standard daytrips look unlikely
and any longer trips are impractical with border closures between most States. We hope to keep the
information flowing, and to keep your Club in the best possible health so that we survive this crisis and
come out even stronger. In the meanwhile, keep washing those hands as a good wash with soap really does
work.
I want to finish by sharing a rather nice story that I heard of a phone call this week between two of our
senior members, and I am doing my best to get the sentiment correct: “How are you?”, “Fine thanks”, “I
mean, are you really doing ok; how is your mental health”? “Yes, I am fine and well, but thank you for
asking”. I thought that this real but paraphrased conversation captured an important side of the Club that
is beyond trips and training, and is the genuine friendships within the Membership. Personally, I will aspire
to match the high standard set by this phone call. At the same time, please feel free to call any of us even
if it is for a general chat.
