Trip Detail
Sunday 4 th July Snow was forecasted around Victoria in general , so we decided to lookout for the white stuff around Marysville / Rubicon area . We aimed to meet at 6:45am at Caltex Marysville . Stuart arrived early ; I was 10 mins late due to traffic conditions at the Spur . There was barely any day light . Stuart asked , “ Is that it ?” to which I replied “ Yes , It ’ s just the two of us ”.
The aim was fairly simple , find snow as early as possible , spend some time and head home early . After we grabbed some morning supplies from the bakery , we headed down to the Rubicon Valley Historic area . We drove towards areas where the elevation was above 1000m . At first , I must admit I had little hopes of finding any snow but that was all about to change . Soon after we crossed 900m above sea level , we found snow around 4-5cm deep . It was mostly fresh snow , and we had the place all to ourselves .
“ Seek and you shall find ” “ Freezing cold and snow showers ”
