TECH TALK Toyota Landcruiser 300 series

The long-awaited LC 300 is here after 15 years of the well-known LC 200 . Toyota continue with the ‘ All Terrain ’ product with the elements of reliability , durability and off-road performance . The LC 300 is made to travel on any road surface continuing with the Land Cruiser heredity .
The LC-300 is based on the all-new GA-F platform which is part of the Toyota New Global Architecture ( TNGA ) chassis . This is the underpinning chassis for Toyota ’ s future models .
So , what are the new changes in the LC 300 ? We know that there are many improvements in the vehicles off-road arena .
� Improved wheel articulation � The KDSS system is upgraded to E KDSS ( Electronic Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System ), improving road holding performance . � Multi-Terrain Monitor , which displays obstacles as viewed from the driver ’ s viewpoint , � Multi-Terrain Select which automatically judges the road surface and selects the best driving mode .
The new 3.3-litre V6 twin-turbo diesel is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and produces 227kW and 700Nm of torque ; the 3.5L V6 turbo petrol produces 305kW and 650Nm via the same transmission .
It is still unknown if the LC300 will follow the GX , GXL , VX and Sahara variants of its predecessor . All we know is a GR Sport variant which is more off road oriented .
Safety Features
Toyota have incorporated many new features into the safety arena of the LC300 . Some of the features are ;
1 . Pre-collision system – Detects pedestrians and cyclists to help avoid a collision or reduce damage . 2 . Emergency Steering and crash avoidance – Assists with steering and lane keeping and when the driver performs an unusual steering maneuver . 3 . Parking Support Brake – Recognises obstacles around the vehicle and helps prevent an accident .
