I must say it was a privilege to represent our club as a judge on Overlanders 4WDOTY . If you get a chance in your travels and you are travelling through that area have a look at Mt Ive station for a few days stay . It really is a great area and they make you welcome .
In all respects the Landcruiser 200 is worthy winner . It really is a fantastic vehicle but in all regards from a dollar value it should be as well . I thought the Disco 4 would have topped the charts and that is the way I went simply for the bang for buck over the cruiser . The surprise package was the FJ Cruiser . If it wasn ’ t for its looks and that you need a couple of joints to get the ‘ funky ’ gig happening it is quite a good driving experience . And that is coming from a Mitsu man !!!!
My biggest let down was the Grand Cherokee Lerado Jeep . It promised the world but was let down with anything half serious off road . I was so looking forward to driving this one with the new diesel and to a point it was living up to the hype that it had been given it before it was let loose on this Comparo .
Simply offroad it was a dog , once the suspension was lifted it would bang and clunk on anything that was looking like all the others else could do in Hi Range . But on the flip side a dream to drive on road .
End of the few days I worked with a great group of guys . We all worked as one trying to ascertain what we thought would be a worthy winner This was one 4wding trip that was a fantastic experience and won ’ t be forgotten for quite a while .
