Exceed 4WD Magazine July/August 2021 Volume #38 / Issue # 04 | Page 34

Welcome to my last ever issue of Exceed . I only joined this club just over two years ago and I got involved quite quickly . Russell Chatfield ( DTU ) shared some great advice with me soon after I joined . “ You only get out of the club what you put into the club .” Russell was spot on . The role of editor can be demanding at times but there has been so much more to gain . I have met great people . I have developed great friendships . I have been on quite a few awesome trips . I have learnt much about life , much about adventure and most importantly , I have learnt much about myself . I have stretched my talents and learnt to do things I never knew possible .
After two years in this role , I am pleased to advise that Rob Dickson (# 1945 ) will be taking over the editing of this magazine . Of course , Rob can not officially become Editor until voting at the AGM . Unless you want to challenge him for the role of course . Rob is younger than me and I expect he has more energy and fresher ideas . Like most of us , Rob already has a busy life with a hectic workload and the usual demands of a young family , but he is very enthusiastic and ready to go .
This magazine relies on us all to be successful . So be nice to Rob . If you have or see an interesting article , share it . If you ’ ve been on a trip , write up a trip report . Or at least send in a few pics . You may even make the cover . Bottom line is don ’ t be afraid to share content . Feedback is also welcome but try to remember that this is a volunteer role , and we are not professionals . My best advice for Rob are the words I received from Ed Reddick ( Trip & Social ) when I started here . Words I am pretty sure he stole anyway . Haha . “ Make this role your own ”, Ed said . I discovered this to basically mean that although you may get advice and suggestions from everywhere , you can ’ t make everybody happy . So best to just do the best you can with what you have . Don ’ t try to follow the path of others . Don ’ t try to compete with others . Create your own path and make this role your own .
For now , I may be stepping down as editor , but I will continue to manage social media on behalf of the Pajero Club . I refer to our private Facebook group , our public Facebook page and of course , our YouTube channel . All have grown significantly over the last year in particular and I am keen to maintain the momentum . Again , I encourage all of you to get more involved in our social media as well . Don ’ t be afraid to share a post . I would love to see more ‘ Show Us your Rig ’ videos from members as well . It ’ s great for our channel and our members love watching these . So , join our group , follow our page and subscribe to our channel .
Until then , I would like to thank all of you for the love and support I have received over the last two years as editor . I thank you for the contributions you made towards the magazine and your feedback . I really did make every effort to make this magazine stand out from all others and I strongly believe our club has made it one of the best 4wd club magazines in Australia . I can only hope that you all got something out of this magazine . Meanwhile , you haven ’ t got rid of me completely so if you see me around , come and say hello . I look forward to sharing an adventure or two with you one day soon .
