Trip Summary A day trip through the Bunyip State Park , into Kurth Kiln Regional Park .
Distance & Route Starting at Gembrook Bakery , we travelled out of town and into Bunyip State Park . We took The Pack Track and Black Snake Creek Rd through the middle of the park then turned off Andersons Rd . We did the Blue Range Trail recommended by the Parks Victoria 4WD map from the Bunyip State Park website . We then drove north out of the state park into Kurth Kiln Regional Park . We did a tour of the campgrounds and finished at the historic site / picnic grounds . Total trip length was approximately 60km .
Fuel & Supplies We did this on a single tank of fuel , the most important supplies were our lunch and a shared afternoon tea . We had snatch straps and winches available should they be required but they were not .
Difficulty Level / Vehicle Requirements In the dry weather this is an easy drive . We did this after some rain and the Blue Range Trail element of the drive was medium difficulty . We aired down our tires for this part of the drive . We did not need any specific 4WD equipment , but mud tires and a lift made the drive easier . Less experienced drivers needed assistance from more experienced drivers on 2-3 occasions .
Tips , Notes and Special Remarks This trip may be too easy for some in the dry and too difficult for others in the wet . We were very pleased to have 7 cars on this trip which were all driven by women . We had 4 male passengers who reported that they also enjoyed the trip .
Trip Detail
We started our day at the Gembrook bakery with coffee , pastries , and a briefing session . We then jumped in the cars and headed out of town towards the Bunyip State Forest . We took a lovely scenic drive along the Pack Track and Black Snake Creek Road through the middle of the park . We stopped to air down at Dyers Picnic Ground then headed off for the more intense four-wheel driving component of our day .
