CASHING IN OR LATE CASH-INS “Cashing in” means claiming your award for a subject you have been studying in your chosen course. At the end of Year 11 all students are automatically “Cashed In” to claim their GCSE Certificates. At the end of Year 12 students will only have completed half of an A Level known as AS-Level. At DBS we do not at this stage “cash in” or claim their grades as they will be continuing into Year 13 for the completion of their full A Level. If your child decides to leave school at the end of Year 12 and wishes to claim their AS-Level grades, they will need to advise the Examinations Officer when the exam entries are made in March of each year so that exam board is able to issue them with all other certificates to be available in November. Examination boards give the school a grace period to claim a Late Cash-in which is only up to 3 weeks after the results are published in August of each year. After this period, if you advise the school that your child wishes to claim their grades the examination board will charge a fee to do this. This cost is to be paid by the student and is not the responsibility of the school. All Students who continue at DBS into Year 13 will automatically be cashed in for all subjects including the subject that was dropped at the end of Year 12. 11
