The Original Rebel Aaliyah Rutledge
"My style is me, and I'm a bit of everything, colorful, cool, sexy, crazy, vintage, I love it all."
This is how Aaliyah, or Lee Lee as she prefers to be called, described her fashion sense. She is a junior at Roxborough High School who attributes her interest in fashion and modeling to Antwon Louis.
"Antwon got me into fashion. I watched him at Germantown and it really inspired me to work on designing things and modelling."
Aaliyah attended Germantown High School for two years before it was shut down and she was transferred to Roxborough. Though Roxborough is stricter than Germantown this fashionista knew what to expect. Her sister attended Roxborough twelve years ago.
After school, Aaliyah enjoys participating in the EducationWorks program. Education works lets her have more time with her friends and learn new things every day.
Aaliyah plans on going to medical school to become a pediatrican. She's known since she was a little girl that she wants to pursue this career field.
"I realized that I can be on the top of my own world, very ambitious. I want to do everything now. Sing, dance, model, design, not everyone is bold enough to let their creative juices flow. I am bold. Watch me show it!"
Don't think for a moment that Aaliyah is a girl who is all work and no play. During her free time, she enjoys spending time on Facebook and watching video games on YouTube. She doesn't just watch games, however. She also plays them. Her favorite game is Grand Theft Auto.
Aaliyah's advice to incoming freshman is:
"Take up open opportunities, do positive things. Every person is a star and negativity will dim you. Education helps you get far and keep your support system close. "
Be original, its the only thing you have besides your name. Originality is to be rebelious, you don't have to do what everyone says. -Aaliyah
