FI, The Global Association
U of the Exhibition Industry, recently released the latest edition of the Euro Fair Statistics report, which provides statistics from exhibitions held in 16 countries: Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Spain, The Netherlands and Turkey. The certified data is gathered from a network of 11 collaborating industry bodies from across the continent( cf. note).
“ Providing reliable data to customers and prospects is key for our industry. Due to the different levels of development and global diversity, methods may vary slightly from country to country, but all the national bodies that have taken part in this study guarantee the quality of the statistics they have provided according to their national definitions. UFI strongly believes that auditing should, wherever possible, be done in a consistent manner to make figures comparable. As such, audited events are identified in this report with the name of the auditor. This year, for the first time, our partner national bodies were asked to indicate whether the reported figures refer to visitors or to visits, thereby improving the precision of the indicator. We shall continue to develop this unique resource, for the benefit of our industry,” said Chris Skeith OBE, CEO and managing director of UFI.
The number of events covered by the Euro Fair Statistics report has continued to grow in recent years. Statistics in the report cover 2,240 exhibitions, compared to 2,008 in the previous year, and 1,825 in the year before. Forty percent of this edition’ s events were addressed to trade visitors, 30 % to public visitors and 30 % to both target groups. They cumulated 23.1m sqm. of registered rented space, 594,444 exhibiting companies and a total attendance of 53.8m registered visits. UFI estimates that this year’ s data represents almost 55 % of the European exhibition market.
UFI plays an important role in developing a basic minimum standard for the industry, including the publication and implementation of the“ UFI’ s Auditing Rules for UFI Approved Events”. The 235 exhibitions that have earned the‘ UFI Approved Event’ designation are identified in this last edition of the Euro Fair Statistics report.
