EurAsia – At COP29 in Baku ,
Azerbaijan , the Net Zero Carbon Events ( NZCE ) campaign launched its ‘ next step ’, following the release of the Industry Roadmap at COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh and the launch of the Measurement Methodology in December 2023 .
Now there will be integration of NZCE methodology into the UN ’ s reference tool for the measurement of events emissions , the Green Events Tool ( GET ). This tool , developed by the UN and managed by the Gulf Organisation for Research and Development , is already measuring the carbon footprint of UN conferences .
Australasia – Business Events
Adelaide has secured the Asia-Pacific International Mining Exhibition ( AIMEX ) in the South Australia capital until 2033 . It is the longest-running mining event in Australia , held for over 50 years . Each biennial edition attracts around 6,000 delegates , 2,000 of whom are from overseas . AIMEX relocates from Sydney for the next five exhibitions and is expected to deliver an economic impact of A $ 240m to the State . South Australia ’ s first AIMEX will be held at the Adelaide Showgrounds in September 2025 . An additional A $ 14m has been committed to the South Australia Business Events Fund .
Asia – The Thailand Convention and
Exhibition Bureau ( TCEB ) recently hosted key exhibition industry leaders at The Exhibition Industry Summit 2024 in Bangkok .
Mr Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya , TCEB president , said : “ We received valuable recommendations on areas of development to propel the exhibition industry forwards while effectively addressing the changing needs in the global market .” Guests were invited to meet Thai prime minister , Ms Paetongtarn Shinawatra , at the Government House , who confirmed government support to drive the growth of the business sector .
