AWE also has its own in-venue MTR station and direct links to the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge( HZMB), giving it access to the Greater Bay Area( GBA) and its market of 87 million people. For international exhibitors and buyers, that means stepping off a long-haul flight and arriving at the show within minutes. For organisers targeting mainland Chinese buyers, the bridge and cross-boundary transport network bring the GBA within easy reach.
Phase 2 will also form an integral part of SKYTOPIA, the Airport City development at HKIA. That puts the venue alongside a growing cluster of entertainment, arts, hospitality, retail and dining facilities. The first phase of Airport Bay Marina is scheduled to complete in 2028, and planned autonomous transport systems will link SKYTOPIA with the Hong Kong Port of the HZMB and Tung Chung.
For event planners, that addresses one of the long-standing questions about airport-adjacent venues – what delegates do once the show closes for the day. A more complete destination on the doorstep gives organisers better options for hotels, networking events and off-site hospitality, and gives attendees more reasons to extend their stay.
Why the naming rights matter The EOI invitation is aimed at corporations with international market influence and a long-term view of brand development. Beyond naming the arena, partners may be offered
dedicated VIP entrances, priority access, bespoke catering, corporate entertainment and interactive brand experiences.
AWE ' s pitch is that brand exposure should cover the whole visitor journey – from ticket purchase and travel planning through to arrival, participation, post-event sharing and spending. The partnership could be integrated across ticketing platforms, event promotion, social media, on-site experiences and corporate hospitality.
AWE already hosts hundreds of major exhibitions and conferences, international concerts, sporting competitions and live entertainment events every year, drawing business and leisure travellers from Hong Kong, the GBA and further afield. More than 100 business leaders and corporate representatives attended the information session to show support for the Phase 2 development.
Irene Chan, chief executive officer of AsiaWorld-Expo, said:“ AWE Phase 2 represents far more than an expansion of the venue; it marks a new milestone for Hong Kong’ s events industry. Its flagship Super Arena will bring together world-class events, global audiences and leading brands, serving as a vital platform connecting Hong Kong, the GBA and international markets. We invite leading global brands to forge longterm strategic partnerships with us, seize the significant opportunities arising from Hong Kong’ s mega-event economy, and take off with us as we create a new landmark destination for world-class events.”
There is a knock-on benefit for exhibition organisers here, too. A strong anchor partner brings marketing investment, audience reach and hospitality infrastructure that shows at the venue can tap into.
A track record to build on AWE goes into Phase 2 with a record of industry recognition. Its awards include Best Convention Centre – North Asia at the M & C Asia Stella Awards, Best Convention & Exhibition Centre at the TTG China Travel Awards, MICE Team of the Year at the C & IT Awards, and Best International Venue at the Exhibition News Awards. It was also the first venue in Asia-Pacific to receive A Greener Future( AGF) certification – an increasingly relevant credential for organisers under pressure to report on sustainability. With construction progressing and completion targeted for the end of 2028, organisers planning Asian editions or launches for 2029 and beyond now have a clearer picture of what AWE will offer: more floor space, a 20,000-plus seat arena on site, flexible outdoor event space and one of the best-connected locations of any venue in the region.
