New health-tech conference brings global players to Basel

S in close collaboration with Bits & Pretzels and other well-known partners, is launching a new health-tech conference at Messe and Congress Center Basel. The goal of this initiative is to create a leading platform that brings together the entire healthcare value chain – from start-ups and established companies, to the worlds of research, academia, politics, and investors.

The healthcare sector is currently undergoing fundamental change. New digital technologies and biomedical innovations are driving a profound transformation, creating both opportunities and challenges. Basel plays a central role in this process: with over 1,000 research groups, more than 800 life sciences companies, and around 33,000 highly qualified professionals, the region brings together a unique concentration of innovative start-ups, globally active pharmaceutical corporations, and leading research and healthcare institutions. This makes Northwestern Switzerland one of Europe’ s leading locations, offering ideal conditions to forge new partnerships, develop business models, and successfully scale innovations.
With the new conference, the MCH Group aims to leverage Basel’ s strategic advantage, further strengthen the location, and unlock the region’ s considerable value-creation potential. To this end, it is acquiring a 50 % stake in the existing health. tech events AG( www. health. tech) and, together with Bits & Pretzels – Europe’ s leading founders’ festival – and additional partners, is launching the internationally oriented health. tech | global summit.
This new global summit goes far beyond the traditional trade fair format. It is set to establish itself as Europe’ s
leading technology-driven health innovation platform, fostering targeted exchange, accelerating innovation, and enabling concrete collaborations along the entire value chain.

A particular focus will be on digital health start-ups, widely regarded as key drivers of innovation. Bits & Pretzels, the organiser of Europe’ s largest founders’ festival, will contribute its expertise in building international communities. Co-organiser Bernd Storm van’ s Gravesande explains:

More than 5,000 participants from over 60 countries are expected. In addition to classic formats such as exhibitions, panels, and keynotes, the programme will include start-up pitches, innovation showcases, and a structured hosted-buyer programme. A specially designed‘ Basel Day’ will also extend the conference into the city itself, making it an experience for the local public.
In March 2026, Basel will thus become the global meeting point for the health-tech industry, positioning itself sustainably as a leading hub for innovation, exchange, and networking in healthcare. EW
