H second-largest city . With Europe ’ s thirdlargest seaport and nearly two million inhabitants , it is a media hub , an innovation centre , and a hotspot of international trade .

Hamburg Messe und Congress hosts trade fairs and conferences right in the heart of the city . The botanical garden ‘ Planten un Blomen ’ connects the exhibition campus with the CCH – Congress
Centre Hamburg and all other adjacent buildings to form one coherent event area .
Moreover , Hamburg Messe und Congress is emerging as a campus for global key topics , as the Hamburg ‘ Big Three ’ of the energy sector demonstrate .
One of the most pressing issues of our time is energy transition . Renewable energies play a key role in this . By 2030 , at least 80 % of the electricity we consume is supposed to be covered by renewable energy ; Germany aspires to be carbon-neutral by 2045 . That is ambitious .
To further drive the transition , it is therefore necessary to foster a continuous exchange of expertise

This is mirrored in the range of events taking place at Hamburg Messe und Congress .
From WindEnergy Hamburg to the maritime fair SMM , and through to the Hydrogen Technology Expo , as many as three global flagship fairs taking place in Hamburg provide an ideal platform for driving the energy transition .
From 3 September to 24 October 2024 , the Hamburg ‘ Big Three ’ of the energy sector brought together around 100,000 industry visitors from around the world , 4,500 international exhibitors , as well as 750 top-flight speakers , all of whom gathered at the city ’ s exhibition halls to present speeches and expert panel discussions .
The first of the ‘ Big Three ’ was SMM , the global maritime trade fair , which took place from 3 to 6 September . Themed ‘ Driving the maritime transition ’, more than 2,200 exhibiting companies turned Hamburg ’ s exhibition halls into the busy meeting hub of the global maritime community . The 31st SMM focused on the maritime energy transition , along with recruiting and Artificial Intelligence .
