What about the strides forward in event tech used at the show ? We are constantly looking at new approaches and applications for technology particularly around data insights . One new technology is a crowd tracking tool that will enable real time data of the show traffic , the flow of people and what ’ s engaging with attendees .

The whole world saw first-hand the contributions the pharma industry made during the Covid years , so being able to help build and accelerate the ecosystem for medicine development and pharma supply chains is a very rewarding space to be part of . We are now looking to increase access and also expand partnerships in emerging pharma industries .
How have you tried to put your stamp on the CPHI Milan show ? CPHI was a well-established brand when I joined but we have built improved services to offer additional value to the pharma ecosystem , including bringing improved yearround content and looking at the sales journey of exhibitors and attendees . CPHI as a brand today has a much wider remit and we are always looking at how we engage throughout the year – with the data resources and connections a major focus .
What trends are you seeing now in this sector ? The primary demand is how can we maximise our attendees ’ time onsite and how we can help them connect and make the most of their experience before , during and after our live
events . Pharma is a very complex industry and the drugs that come into the market tomorrow are often very different , so we continue to look to expand our reports , and provide extensive content onsite to help the industry stay ahead of trends .
How are you approaching the topic of sustainability at the show ? We approach this in two distinct ways – one looking at the direct carbon , social and environmental impacts of the event and how can we improve that through our Better Stands programme and auditing all stands at the event and offering more sustainable turnkey solutions .
Secondly , how we can use our platforms – our content reports , our sessions and seminars and even our stakeholders to empower a more sustained and responsible pharma industry .
To give you a few examples from this year : We have launched another sustainability report , with learnings from across pharma , a new sustainability collective – a senior working group of cross global experts exploring all aspects of sustainability in pharma – and a new mentoring programme to help younger attendees connect with senior leaders in the industry through our events .

How important is participation in exhibition industry associations such as UFI or SISO to you ? Both organisations are very important as they enable us to both gain insights from other events , but also showcase
. the learnings we have developed at CPHI , and in the wider pharma portfolio , with our peers .
We look at best practices across all events and then think how we can apply them to pharma audiences in a meaningful way . The end goal of which is helping our audiences better build and communicate with their networks and do more business .
Many young pharma companies are delisting from the Alternative Investment Market ( AIM ). Is there is an opportunity here for exhibitions pairing AIM-listed pharma companies with potential investors ? Putting aside , AIM listing which is quite specific – the short answer is yes , we are seeing a lot more investor audiences at CPHI Milan and it is something we are nurturing . We have PE audiences coming to explore the large number of CDMOs at the event – and this is a major growth for the industry . But we also use the CPHI platform to help encourage early-stage industry innovations and these people are typically looking for VC funding .
Last year in Barcelona , we launched our start-up programme – and we had 40 start-ups there , while this year numbers have increased to nearly 100 . The package we offer includes roundtables to meet with investors . EW
