“ These events generate economic impact, but just as importantly, they contribute to Prague’ s international reputation as a place where business, science and culture meet,” she says. international meetings increasingly combine scientific programmes with exhibitions, partner showcases, networking formats and cultural components.“ To host these effectively in one place requires both flexible space and coherent flow, something that the planned hall directly enables,” she notes.
The new proposed exhibition hall will add approximately 5,000sqm net of flexible event space at the venue, divisible into multiple sections to support exhibitions, conferences and formal gatherings including gala dinners for up to 1,500 participants.“ For organisers, this means the practical ability to run multi-format events on a single site, with larger exhibition space, better logistics, clearer circulation and enhanced experience for delegates and partners alike,” the CEO says.“ Integrating this space with PCC’ s existing congress facilities creates a versatile campus that aligns with modern expectations for scale, flexibility and atmosphere.
“ The most important aspect of the new exhibition hall is its size, which will not only allow us to host even the largest international events but also offer a new level of space flexibility. We will be able to bring exhibitions, congress programmes, networking and social formats together in one coherent environment, without forcing compromises in layout or flow.”
Benefits for the city and the centre The City of Prague investment is not limited to the exhibition hall alone, but designed to support a broader set of development projects that will strengthen the Prague Congress Centre as a whole and improve how it functions for organisers, delegates and the city alike.
“ Alongside the new hall, these investments will allow us to modernise key technical infrastructure, including stage and audiovisual technologies, enhance the energy efficiency in the building and continue our transition towards more sustainable event operations,” says Žlebková.“ Upgrades to garages and back-of-house facilities will improve logistics during large events, while revitalisation of terraces and public areas around the building will significantly enhance the overall visitor experience.”
The CEO underlines that the City authorities are well aware that expanding and modernising the congress infrastructure is one of the most effective ways to attract highvalue international events, professional visitors and knowledge-based tourism.
Revitalising public space The new exhibition hall is also part of a much wider transformation of the area around Prague Congress Centre. For a long time, this exceptional location above the city remained underused in everyday urban life. That is now changing.
“ Through our initiatives such as Art District Vyšehrad, we are gradually opening the site to the public and will be bringing cultural and social activity back to the northern terrace and surrounding spaces,” Žlebková notes.“ A new lookout tower, public café, art installations, or outdoor cultural events will help to turn the area into a place people visit not only for major events, but also as part of their daily experience of the city.
“ For event organisers, this transformation matters more than it might seem at first glance. Delegates increasingly expect venues to feel alive, connected and embedded in their surroundings. Being able to step outside a conference hall into an active public space with views of the city and cultural elements fundamentally changes how an event is perceived.”
So, with financing finally secured and construction set to begin, Prague Congress Centre is entering a bold, new phase. One where established strengths are matched by expanded exhibition capacity and future-ready infrastructure.
“ After many years of preparation, I am convinced that this combination of today’ s advantages and tomorrow’ s possibilities will define Prague Congress Centre as a venue of choice for international event organisers, the venue where moments really matter. And most importantly, the long-awaited exhibition hall will finally become reality,” Žlebková concludes. EW www. exhibitionworld. co. uk Issue 1 2026 33
