What can you tell us about the tracks “Push the Button” and “Resurrection” (performed by you and Amy at Bluegrass Underground)?
Push the Button is a new song for the Film War Story – which Amy created – There is also another song in the film which is AMAZING!! And you guys will all get to check that out soon. We just finished that song last week and they added it to one of the most dramatic scenes from the film.
Ressurection is going to be part of a longer piece that Amy and I wrote together for the amazing young dance company Hammerstep(who performed at Bluegrass Underground with us). I love its dark industrial quality. We are hoping to write a longer piece for them for a fall New York run.
How did you meet Amy Lee and Evanescence? What was your first impression of the band?
I first met Amy in 2005 and started playing quite a few acoustic shows with her during the tour for The Open Door record. I was so impressed right away with her musical intelligence, artistic prowess and expressive diversity. I also loved the melodic expression and drama of Evanescence – it has a lot of classical music influence so I felt I fit right in.
You think Amy Lee would go well in solo career? How is being to work with her in this new phase? (now she is about to be mother)
Of course – Amy is brilliant! The new stuff she is writing is brilliant, fresh and contemporary. I think we are going to see some very exciting music from her this year. It is so fun to work together too, because we are all finding new voice and directions of expression – its great to go into the studio and not know exactly what is going to happen!
