Interview with Dave Eggar by EvShadow
How are you, Dave? it’s an honor for us to have you here!
I am great! I am actually in Arkansas now – it is great to meet you guys!
You started early your career as a musician, this happened at what age, and why the interest in classical music?
I started playing classical music when I was about 3 years old. My mother’s whole family played classical music and fell in love with the passion and emotionality of the music. By age 5, I was already playing music 4 or 5 hours a day. When I was 7 I auditioned for the Metropolitan Opera Children’s Chorus and was accepted, I sang there as a boy soprano until I was 12.
What musical instruments can you play besides the cello and why did you chose the cello?
I grew up studying both cello and piano at the Juilliard School in New York. I fell in love with the cello as soon as I started playing it. It was wierd – it seemed to fit me so well – within 6 months of playing cello, I was already playing the Johannes Brahms Sonatas. I never looked back – haha. Because I also loved rock music a lot – especially Pearl Jam and Nirvana. I started playing Bass Guitar in high school.
