Welcome to the August issue of EVOLVE Magazine. Let me begin by
thanking the Editorial Advisory Committee who have remained
true to our goal of shining a light on the leaders and businesses–big
and small–who make a difference in our community every day.
Toward the end of last year, the Committee chose ‘Health and Wellness’ for
our August theme. The wellness industry is big business–estimated to grow
to a $66 billion dollar industry in the U.S. by 2022. But with the COVID-19
pandemic as our backdrop, the theme takes on a deeper meaning as health and
wellness, in some form or fashion, is ever present in the news today. Our goal
with this issue, and all of our issues, is to explore the theme with a different
lens while providing content you will find relevant.
In the article Mental Health in the Workplace, we examine mental healthcare
options in our community, spotlighting the Open Doors Counseling Network.
With the uncertainty of this current moment, anxiety and depression may
become our next major health crisis. Open Doors innovative model of care
offers a sliding scale, fee based option to ensure those who need mental health
support can get it.
In Love What You Do: Volusia Health Experts Share Their Secrets to Success, we
interview three business owners whose personal passion for their craft and a
desire to help people live fuller more productive lives, is enriching the lives of
their clients and our community.
In Future Foods Holds Future Promise for Ormond Beach, you will learn about
the plant-based food market and the Ormond Beach based manufacturer,
Future Foods–why they chose to establish themselves in the area and their
plans for the future.
Robert Chamberlain, Chairman and CEO of Applied Health Analytics,
makes the case that data should drive the way to better employee health in The
Road Ahead; and in Staying Well in Your Workspace, you will find tips for staying
well in your home office and thoughts on the future of office spaces.
To provoke some self-thought and exploration, read Emotional Intelligence:
How Self-Awareness Impacts Decision-Making.
Finally, a “healthy” balance sheet is vital to any business. In Federal
Pandemic Help, a ‘Lifeline’ to Local Business, Bruce Page, CEO of Intracoastal
Bank shares his perspective on the importance of contingency planning when
it comes to keeping a business healthy and Helga Van Eckert, Volusia County’s
economic development director, talks about funding the County and its
partners are providing to aid small businesses during this economic crisis.
I hope you enjoy reading this issue as much as we enjoyed putting it
together. We appreciate your support of EVOLVE and with your continued
readership, we will continue our efforts to provide you with content that
is informative, inspirational, interesting, and relevant by shining a light on
positive business stories in our great region. Please share this issue with as
many people as you can; it just may be the catalyst to more great things.
