Ninety-five per cent of the pumps manufactured are
diesel powered, although electric powered pumps are also

Reduced emission standards, for example, often lead to
development of more expensive pumps with added features.

Germfree’s technologies led to the ability to deliver and rear
sterile animals for research—a prerequisite for many important
medical breakthroughs of recent decades. The term “germfree”
was not common parlance until the early seventies, when
the public became aware of a child with Severe Combined
Immunodeficiency who was forced to live in a specially designed
“bubble”—an environment not contaminated by microorganisms
(many will remember the movie with John Travolta).
