Healthcare is the largest industry in Florida’ s Fantastic Coast and has been a recurring theme in EVOLVE over the years. This time we took a bit of a different take and focused on the healthcare investments being made in the region – from new hospitals to community clinics and even software investments. Together, they paint a picture of significant investments which will expand access, patient care and ultimately quality of life for all of us. What we sometimes miss— or don’ t talk about often enough— are the new jobs and economic impact these investments bring to our communities.

We often talk about the coastal environment as being a major attraction for people moving to St Johns, Flagler and Volusia counties. While that is true, the quality of accessible healthcare is equally important at one age and of critical importance at another. We’ re reminded of the people we have met who moved here because of Mayo, Halifax Health and / or Advent Health.

A special thank you to Dr. Patrick Tighe from the University of Florida’ s School of Medicine. Dr. Tighe is the Associate Dean for AI Application and Innovation. He has contributed an article in this issue, " Harnessing AI for Healthcare: A Human Centered Approach for Florida’ s Leaders " which you’ ll find on page 24. Dr. Tighe will be one of our panelists at the next EVOLVE Learning from Leaders Series, which will be Artificial Intelligence: How It Will Impact Your Business …. and Your Life! Hold the date, for September 5, 2025, from 7:30a. m. to 9:30 a. m. at the Hammock Beach Resort and Spa. More details to come.

We frequently thank elected officials, especially at the local level, for their community service. They are so deserving of our appreciation. In 2022 we met a person who has not been elected to any office but is one of the most community – committed individuals we have ever met. His name is Greg White. His community is West Augustine. He and a network of similarly committed people have toiled for years to make a better life for those living in the community who have been left behind. The article, " A Community Transformed: The Life Changing Impact of the West Augustine Health and Wellness Center," on page 20, is about the construction of the Center which is opening this fall. The health outcomes that are expected from the clinic will have a generational impact because of a true community servant – Mr. Greg White. Thank you for your service, sir!
