MEDICAL MARIJUANA INDUSTRY

Medical marijuana has rapidly grown into a booming Florida industry. The Sunshine State leads the nation in medical marijuana use, with more registered patients than any other state. Today, over 900,000 Floridians— nearly 4 % of the population— are enrolled in the state’ s medical marijuana( mmj) program. That’ s three times the number from just five years ago, underscoring the sector’ s fast expansion and economic significance.
Access and Availability Across Florida
The demand is generating a growing industry. There are currently 714 dispensaries— also known as Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers( MMTCs)— operating throughout Florida. Registered patients with mmj ID cards can purchase a variety of products ranging from edible cannabis-infused gummies and baked goods to smokable marijuana flowers. There are at least 16 dispensaries across Volusia, Flagler, and St. Johns counties, including locations operated by the state’ s two largest MMTCs, Trulieve and MÜV.
Market Growth in Florida and Beyond
It all adds up to a massive sales market. Florida ranks third nationally in overall cannabis sales, behind California and Michigan, where recreational marijuana is legal, creating a much larger user base.
