Many Americans heard the call to protect and serve the country in response to the horrific events of September 11, 2001. After serving in the U. S. Air Force from the early‘ 80s through the Persian Gulf War, Collins White decided he would ensure our warfighters and police officers had the tools, technologies and resources to keep them, America and our communities and citizens safe. He formed Defenshield, which is a service-disabled, veteranowned small business producing equipment designed to protect troops and law enforcement officers from deadly bullets and bomb blasts. Located in Palm Coast, it also provides secure facility protection
“ I spent 11 years in the USAF. I was stationed in Europe when the Berlin Wall came down and in Turkey during the first Persian Gulf War. When I left the service, I was sure I would never do anything as important as I did for those 11 years. I was wrong,” said Collins White, President and CEO.
The company conducts extensive cooperative research, coordinating with end users to design the most effective and economical products. This involves evaluating products locally then securing third party certification at national testing labs. In its 23 years, Defenshield has not had a warranty or liability claim and its products are certified to be beyond the highest standards of the National Institute of Justice. Customers of the company include the Pentagon, with over $ 3 million in armor systems defending its every entrance; all six branches of the Department of Defense; headquarters of more than a dozen federal agencies, including the Central Intelligence Agency, the U. S. Department of Justice, the United States Department of Homeland Security, the U. S. Mint, the Federal Emergency Management Agency; the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, SpaceX, more than 20 airports, including JFK, LaGuardia and Reagan
