T
his Halloween, dressing your child
or even dog up is now old (witches)
hat. The latest trend is dressing up
your equine friend. In this feature,
Equestrian, Country & Canine PR & Social
Media Marketing Agency, MirrorMePR share
their tips for having a frighteningly good time.
Dressing Up Safety First
While it might seem fun dressing
yourself and your steed up in scary
costumes, if your horse is petrified you
run the risk of creating your own real-
life horror story. So, introduce costumes
and accessories slowly and carefully
and make sure that your horse is totally
happy with you wearing bat wings or
being covered head to toe with a bed
sheet. Don’t forget to use your head when it
comes to playing it safe and always wear
your helmet with the chin strap secured.
The Perfect Fit
Make sure that any costumes you buy
do not interfere with the fit and function
of your tack. Discovering that the
satin sheet you put under your horse’s
saddle is sliding off around his tummy
with you still onboard will not be fun.
Wrapping things around a well-fitted
browband can suddenly make it tight
and uncomfortable, so don’t get carried
away.
Kiss & Make-Up
Before you head to the stables armed
with coloured hair dyes, body paints
and glitter, just remember that horses
like humans can have allergic reactions
to products too. It’s recommended t
doo a small patch test and leave it for 24
hours before applying in full. And also
remember it is coming into winter, so
a full bath to remove it all might not be
possible. Riding your horse in the rain
with a pink tail could ruin your boots,
bandages, rugs etc. as it starts to wash
out in the bad weather so plan ahead
ESPECIALLY if you have a competition
outing planned!
