Punter from Tara Punter PR to learn
more about what it takes to make
it in an ever expanding area of the
industry.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself
and what you do?
I run Tara Punter PR - an equestrian and rural PR and
Journalism company based in the Cotswolds. I help
equestrian and rural businesses with their presence in
the media through print, digital and social coverage.
This is done in a variety of ways ranging from the sending
of press releases to feature articles and editorials.
What inspired you to work in public
relations and why did you choose
equestrian PR?
I was an equine journalist before I started my PR
company and started to take more of an involved role
with the company I was working with at the time. I was
a web editor, their social media manager and started to
help them with PR. I absolutely loved it and decided to
launch my own business covering PR and Journalism.
What in the way of training did you do to
get to where you are today, would you
have done anything differently?
I didn’t train specifically for this. I did an equine
and agricultural business degree and chose relevant
modules to help my business know-how. I graduated
5 years ago. It was another 2 years on before I went
self-employed. I’ve trained with many professionals
and am regularly attending seminars, webinars and
coaching sessions to ensure that my knowledge is as
current as can be (essential in this rapidly changing
world!)
How many hours a week do you spend
writing?
My workload varies every week! Typically I will work for
anywhere between 55 and 70 hours a week on a whole
variety of projects. I have a wonderful team around
