Hello Readers !

EVERYTHING HORSENote

With Spring almost over and the thought of summer edging into our minds , I ' m glad to see our horses spending longer days grazing and socialising while enjoying their annual ' newfound freedom '.

We at Everything Horse were saddened to hear of His Royal Highness Prince Philip ' s death in April . Our feature article in this issue honours the late Duke of Edinburgh , who played a pivotal role in the equine industry . Abby ' s piece on page 20 journeys us through a lifetime of outstanding commitment and achievement in equestrianism , which I do hope you will enjoy reading .
On equestrian sport more broadly , it is truly fantastic to see competitions in full swing once again ! As the week ' s go by , we ease ( hopefully !) closer to the final phases of our lockdown and restrictions - I ' m hopeful for a Summer , Autumn and Winter full of wonderful events for competitors and spectators alike . As usual , alongside our feature article , we have a host of others for you to enjoy this month .
Organisers of both Horse of the Year Show ( HOYS ) and Olympia , The London International Horse Show , have announced ticket sales for this year ' s events - a welcome sign that we ' ve got lots to look forward to despite a rather miserable start to the year . Royal Windsor Horse Show also looks forward to welcoming
guests , as does Hickstead , who have made some minor changes to their regular schedule .
As more equestrians ’ head out to competition , we thought it would be fitting to focus on travel protection for the equine , including show gear and body protectors to help keep you safe when in the saddle . We ' ve concentrated on many product features this month , including a four-page spread alone on ' what ' s new '. It ' s wonderful to see an abundance of innovation and creativity , and sustainability at the core of so many companies core values .
One of my favourite parts of Spring has to be seeing the foals arrive , thriving at the foot of their dam and learning to play in the fields . I think it ' s so hard to resist scrolling through these pictures on social media , leaving a love heart ( or two ) as you go . I ' m personally eagerly awaiting good news from one of our sponsored riders , Steph Gumn , as her broodmare Berrywood is due to foal any day . It ' s such an exciting time and by far , I think , one of the many thrilling parts of horse ownership , should you choose to venture into breeding .
I enjoy this time of year so much , I hope you do too ! Take care and stay safe ,
