The chateaux are famous throughout France and it is worth visiting more than one of the chateaux of the Dordogne as they all have something different to offer.
The Dordogne Valley is often referred to the as the ' Valley of the 5 Chateaux ' due to the five very historic chateaux dating from the 100 years wars. The two most impressive chateaux are the famous Chateau de Beynac and Chateau de Castelnaud.
These chateaux are reputed to be the most visited chateaux in France.
