REAL WEDDING STORIES
Jennifer & Richard
Richard and I first met in the summer of 2003. I was working in a local Jewellers and he was home from
Uni for a few weeks, he came into the
shop to get his watch strap altered. I
served him, put the watch over his
wrist to check the size, smiled as I do
and he left the shop. The following
Saturday he phoned the shop to ask
me out, I was shocked and a bit shy!
I had a boyfriend at the time so I politely declined his offer of a date but
found out I had gone to school with
his younger brother Aaron, so knew
his surname but not his first name.
Fast forward a few weeks and my
relationship with my boyfriend ended on bad terms and I was in quite
a sad place. My friends suggested I
got in contact with my mystery caller
so after a bit of investigation work,
I found out he only lived down the
road. I popped my number through
his door and he text me that evening,
explaining he wasn’t home any more
but would be back in November.
Over the following few weeks, we
chatted via text, email and eventually were speaking daily on the phone.
On Friday 14th November we had
our first date and then our relationship continued while Richard completed his degree and he graduated
in 2005. Over the next 7 years, I had
moved in with his parents then we
had a break and I moved into a flat
with a friend, we got back together,
Richard joined the Navy and I eventually ended up living in Cambridge
with my mum, we separated in April
