back-garden weddings, eco weddings... However and wherever you’re getting married, JW
Blooms can provide you with
glorious, sustainably-grown fresh
flowers. And if you’re not getting
married locally, we can even box
up your flowers and send them to
you via courier.
JW Blooms
was set up in
2008 to offer an alternative to
imported, out-of-season flowers
and to cater for those who feel
buying flowers really shouldn’t
involve a flight...
From a small, secluded field in
Somerset, we grow traditional
British cut flowers - all the old
cottage-garden favourites from
cornflowers, love-in-a-mist and
deliciously fragrant sweet peas to
snapdragons, old-English roses
and sumptuous dahlias. And all
without chemical fertilisers, pesticides or a single slug pellet.
My original plan was a simple
flower stall, somewhere to sell
armfuls of seasonal blooms, tied
up with string.
Then someone asked if I did weddings...
Today, along with more-thanable assistant Amanda, I grow
and design flowers for dozens
of weddings each season. Grand
weddings, vintage weddings,
We also do luscious gift bouquets
and posies, delivered nationwide.
And, of course, bunches tied up
with string.
Some 80% of the flowers bought
in Britain are imported, from as
far afield as Colombia and Kenya.
With our great climate for growing, most of the flowers we buy and many more - could be grown
locally, if only we demanded it.
We have a cutting patch (top left)
in Somerset where we grow our
English cut flowers, using the No
Dig method. It’s incredibly hard
work but when the sun’s shining
and the bees are buzzing, it’s paradise!
