and sad. John came into the pub the
week before Christmas with a gift
(Large bag of mixed meat joints)
romantic lol !!!! He worked in an
abattoir. He also gave me a Christ-
mas card and as I was going to my
fathers in Scotland for Christmas
to ring him, which I did.
On my return , he rang me at the
pub on new years eve and said he
was my angel sent to look after
me, which made me cry. He lat-
er popped in to the pub with bot-
tle champagne and said he’d see
me the next day. He turned up as
promised with a dressed salmon on
new years day, I had to laugh, he
asked me if I cooked. I’m thinking
what !!!.
Anyway we did get together and
become a couple. He was a strange
one ?? He was so grounded and me
the dreamer, he said he’d never get
married as he’d always be a Batch-
elor.
I accepted him the way he was as I
liked that he was so different to me,
loved the fact he was a manly man,
hardworking.
The years rolled by, 20 off the the
just two years ago whilst away on
short break to Oxford with our
friends, we all went to dinner. It
was Valentines by the way. We ate
and then he turned to me and said
‘I suppose you want your valentines
gift’? He then gave me some gift
vouchers from FJ Hinds the jewel-
lers, you could see the disappoint-
ment on my face, couldn’t hide it,
he then said ‘well if you don’t want
them’ and took them back, produc-
ing a ring box saying ‘I dont sup-
