Every Avenue Weddings Magazine www . eawedmag . com looked fantastic , along with a balloon arch across the stage just behind our top table . 80 guests including family and friends joined us for our wedding meal , and again Kelly had pulled out all the stops for us and provided us with a superb meal choice of Chinese chicken curry and a beef stew . As myself and Pauline sat and ate our meals we reflected on what a wonderful day it had been so far , we couldn ’ t have wished for any better if we were being honest .
After this delicious wedding meal had been consumed , thoughts turned to our speeches . We had decided that we were doing things differently with our wedding , so Pauline was going to do the main speech instead of myself . Pauline ’ s son Robert wanted to do a mini speech for us , not going over the top but saying a few words was a nice gesture on his part . He introduced the first speech giver , Pauline ’ s brother in law Geoff . He was standing in and doing the speech for Pauline ’ s father . Geoff ’ s speech was lovely and it was just like Pauline ’ s father was there , very nice heartfelt words , and welcoming me ( Alan ) to the family . Robert then introduced me to do a little speech , I didn ’ t want to say too much as my bride was the main speech giver . I wanted to say a big thank you for coming on the day to all family and friends , and to remember those that couldn ’ t be there , such as my mom and dad and Pauline ’ s mom and dad . I have to admit I had a lump in my throat saying what I wanted to say . I also wanted to say how proud I was in marrying Pauline , the love of my life , and how beautiful she looked . After my speech , Pauline stood up to a generous round of applause . Her speech was mainly thank you ’ s to my family for welcoming her into our fold .. She wanted to give her son Robert a big thank you for not only giving her away but also for all the comfort he gave her during the build up on the big day , as she said it must have been strange seeing his mom marrying another man after only knowing her with his father . Pauline ’ s immediate family were also mentioned in her speech , not only for travelling down but for all the help and support via the Whatsapp messaging service . Finally Best Man Stephen Bowers stood up for his speech , he hadn ’ t been well leading up to the wedding , but boy did he do Pauline and myself proud with his warm comments . His mentioning of Alan ’ s mom and dad left sister Pauline Bowers and groom Alan with another lump in their respective throats .
After all the speeches had been done , it was time to get the main room back to how it used to be ready for the evening celebrations . The wedding cake was cut but unfortunately myself and Pauline forgot to cut slices for our guests to take home , so we had 4 cakes to take home , but we ’ re still trying to get through eating them ourselves !!.
