I said yes almost immediately with his request to help judge. We exchanged numbers, and that’s how our story be- gan. Getting to chat with Alan over the next few weeks, we talked about how our lives at our respective homes were being pulled apart by strained relationships, we seemed to have a lot in common with what we were going through. Alan had been in a 2 year marriage, whilst mine was a 25 year marriage. We talked and talked and got to know each other a lot better, Alan could see that I wasn’t happy with my own marriage, and I could see that he wasn’t with his wife. My husband wasn’t the nicest of men and it took only a few weeks for me to realise this, with Alan’s help and understanding. I was making myself ill with how life was in my home life. Our photographer Lee Elliott, came early that morning to the hotel to take some photographs of myself and my wedding entourage, including my son Robert, his girlfriend Michelle, my sis- ter Gill, flower girl Summer and page boy Ben preparing to get ready. My big day had finally arrived, although It all began back in 2007 really. Myself and Alan had known each other since that date. My then husband, along with my son Robert, were regular visitors to Hillhead Caravan Park in sunny Devon. These were our annu- al holidays of the year. How our lives began to intertwine started in 2012. Alan was our amazing camp host and compere, one night he approached me to help him with kids entertainment, judging competitions etc. back . I attended several job interviews until I finally managed to secure a job at the holiday camp we used to visit as holiday makers, in the camp shop as shop supervisor. Pauline’s story.
